VITA

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers FREE TAX HELP (both federal and state) for people who generally make $64,000 or less for the 2023 tax year, persons with disabilities and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in prepairing their own tax returns.  Our IRS-certified volunteers provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Make an appointment to have our IRS-certified volunteers assist you with tax credits like the Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and the Child and Dependent Care Credit.  New for tax year 2022 is a partially refundable Virginia state Earned Income Tax Credit.  Let us help you make sure you receive all the tax credits which you are allowed.

For information regarding what type of tax returns we can prepare and what documents to bring, click here to go to IRS-Publication 3676-A.

A second option to file taxes for free, if you have a 2023 adjusted gross income of $79,000 or less, is to visit www.myfreetaxes.com to prepare your federal and state taxes. You will be guided through the whole process.
